I was also there.

FYI: I had never been to Madison WI before.
Had wanted to visit there since my college years (’80-’83)
when I was inspired by it’s history re. protests in the ’60′s.

I wasn't sure if I would try to make the drive up,
or stay home and try and watch Sams remote broadcast.

It’s intresting that on Saturday, my 49th birthday, I would finally visit
that magical city.

Seeing that these havn't been available in the VOD pages.
because smackchannel is no more,
I thought I would put up this crude recording I made
this past saturday.
Pointing a camera at a computer that has the pages and video
recreated on the Harddrive while Offline.

The 1.3GB avi file the cam produced was to big to upload.
After converting it to a 288Mb .mpg file I uploaded it
as a private/unlisted and unsearchable video.

The video falls way behind the audio after a while.
For anyone who never got a chance to see these because they
still had dial-up, or wasn't around in 2007-'08, this will give
you an aproximation of what the show was.

For me , it was steve & garry who put the spotlight on Harry Shearer.
I was only slightly aware of Harry,
I didn't watch S.N.L. much in the 80's
In the 70's as far as comedy goes , it was Cheech & Chong,
Geroge Carlin, or Woody Allen.

A friend of mine turned me on to Steve Dahl in 1978 WDAI 94.7 Chicago.
In 1979 We went to Disco Demolition at Comisky Park.
In 1981 I began tape recording the radio show whenever I could,
and by early 1991 had filled about 430 cassette tapes.
Being the obsessive compulsive that I sometimes am when I get into something,
I labeled the tapes: topics, guests, ect.
Then I began making a catalog with the topics, Guests listed
and on which tape numbers these were located.

I've noticed many on this fine blog also like the work of Harry Shearer.

This past week I've made .mp3 audio files of some of these from 1984 & '85 to share with you.
