Even filtered by our atmosphere, even after traveling eight minutes at the speed of light, sunshine is so full of energy it can create life on Earth, turn water to gas and melt polar ice. But the sun can't cause global warming?

Many of the assertions Gore makes in his movie, ''An Inconvenient Truth,'' have been refuted by science, both before and after he made them. Gore can show sincerity in his plea for scientific honesty by publicly acknowledging where science has rebutted his claims

Inconvenient FACTS
Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 08/19/2007 - 10:46am.
Gore claims the snowcap atop Africa's Mt. Kilimanjaro is shrinking and that global warming is to blame. Yet according to the November 23, 2003, issue of Nature magazine, "Although it's tempting to blame the ice loss on global warming, researchers think that deforestation of the mountain's foothills is the more likely culprit. Without the forests' humidity, previously moisture-laden winds blew dry. No longer replenished with water, the ice is evaporating in the strong equatorial sunshine."

Gore claims global warming is causing more tornadoes. Yet the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change stated in February that there has been no scientific link established between global warming and tornadoes.

Gore claims global warming is causing more frequent and severe hurricanes. However, hurricane expert Chris Landsea published a study on May 1 documenting that hurricane activity is no higher now than in decades past. Hurricane expert William Gray reported just a few days earlier, on April 27, that the number of major hurricanes making landfall on the U.S. Atlantic coast has declined in the past 40 years. Hurricane scientists reported in the April 18 Geophysical Research Letters that global warming enhances wind shear, which will prevent a significant increase in future hurricane activity.

Gore claims global warming is causing an expansion of African deserts. However, the Sept. 16, 2002, issue of New Scientist reports, "Africa's deserts are in 'spectacular' retreat . . . making farming viable again in what were some of the most arid parts of Africa."

Gore argues Greenland is in rapid meltdown, and that this threatens to raise sea levels by 20 feet. But according to a 2005 study in the Journal of Glaciology, "the Greenland ice sheet is thinning at the margins and growing inland, with a small overall mass gain." In late 2006, researchers at the Danish Meteorological Institute reported that the past two decades were the coldest for Greenland since the 1910s.

One More Gore Lie
Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 08/19/2007 - 10:48am.
Gore claims the Antarctic ice sheet is melting because of global warming. Yet the Jan. 14, 2002, issue of Nature magazine reported Antarctica as a whole has been dramatically cooling for decades. More recently, scientists reported in the September 2006 issue of the British journal Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society Series A: Mathematical, Physical, and Engineering Sciences, that satellite measurements of the Antarctic ice sheet showed significant growth between 1992 and 2003. And the U.N. Climate Change panel reported in February 2007 that Antarctica is unlikely to lose any ice mass during the remainder of the century.

Each of these cases provides an opportunity for Gore to lead by example in his call for an end to the distortion of science. Will he rise to the occasion? Only time will tell.

Scientist: Models used to analyse climate change are incoherent
Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 08/19/2007 - 10:54am.
Scientists might not have human behavior to blame for global warming, according to the president of the World Federation of Scientists.

Antonio Zichichi, who is also a retired professor of advanced physics at the University of Bologna, made this assertion today in an address delivered to an international congress sponsored by the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace.

The conference, which ends today, is examining "Climate Change and Development."

Zichichi pointed out that human activity has less than a 10% impact on the environment.

He also cited that models used by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) are incoherent and invalid from a scientific point of view. The U.N. commission was founded in 1988 to evaluate the risk of climate change brought on by humans

Scientific opinion on climate change
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
National and international science academies and professional societies have assessed the current scientific opinion on climate change, in particular recent global warming. These assessments have largely followed or endorsed the IPCC position that "An increasing body of observations gives a collective picture of a warming world and other changes in the climate system... There is new and stronger evidence that most of the warming observed over the last 50 years is attributable to human activities".[1]

This page documents scientific opinion as given by synthesis reports, scientific bodies of national or international standing, and surveys of opinion among climate scientists. It does not document the views of individual scientists or self-selected lists of individuals such as petitions.

Storm guru: Oceans, not CO2, cause warming
Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 08/19/2007 - 10:56am.
Challenging the climate science community, noted hurricane forecaster William Gray said that global ocean currents, not human-produced carbon dioxide, are responsible for global warming, and the Earth may begin to cool on its own in five to 10 years.

He said that over the past 40 years the number of major hurricanes making landfall on the Atlantic coast has declined compared with the previous 40 years, even though carbon dioxide levels have risen.

Global Warming Skeptic Challenges Gore to Debate
Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 08/19/2007 - 10:59am.
A British skeptic of global warming "alarmism" on Tuesday challenged climate change activist and former Vice President Al Gore to a debate on the issue.

"Al Gore has become the world's most recognized advocate of the theory that human greenhouse gas emissions are altering the world's climate and could cause catastrophic damage if not arrested and reduced," Heartland Institute President Joseph Bast said in a statement. "But Al Gore refuses to debate those who say global warming is not a crisis."

Global warming hits Mars too: study
Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 08/19/2007 - 11:01am.
Global warming could be heating Mars four times faster than Earth due to a mutually reinforcing interplay of wind-swept dust and changes in reflected heat from the Sun, according to a study released Wednesday.

The study, published on Thursday by the British journal Nature, shows for the first time that these variations not only result from the storms but help cause them too.

It also suggests that short-term climate change is currently occurring on Mars and at a much faster rate than on Earth.

A Skeptic's Guide To Debunking Global Warming Alarmism
Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 08/19/2007 - 11:04am.
Since 1895, the media has alternated between global cooling and warming scares during four separate and sometimes overlapping time periods. From 1895 until the 1930's the media peddled a coming ice age. From the late 1920's until the 1960's they warned of global warming. From the 1950's until the 1970's they warned us again of a coming ice age. This makes modern global warming the fourth estate's fourth attempt to promote opposing climate change fears during the last 100 years.

The National Academy of Sciences report reaffirmed the existence of the Medieval Warm Period from about 900 AD to 1300 AD and the Little Ice Age from about 1500 to 1850. Both of these periods occurred long before the invention of the SUV or human industrial activity could have possibly impacted the Earth's climate. In fact, scientists believe the Earth was warmer than today during the Medieval Warm Period, when the Vikings grew crops in Greenland.

The official title of the Nazi Party was "The National Socialist Workers Party of Germany". Hitler and the Brownshirts advocated the nationalization of education, health care, transportation, national resources, manufacturing, distribution and law enforcement.

Hitler came to power by turning the working class, unemployed, and academic elite against the conservative republic. After Der Fuhrer's election ceased being a political conspiracy and was transformed into a fashionable social phenomenon, party membership was especially popular with educators, bureaucrats, and the press.

Being a Nazi was "politically correct". They called themselves "The Children of the New Age of World Order" and looked down their noses at everyone else. As Hitler acquired more power, he referred to his critics as "The Dark Forces of Anarchy and Hatred". Anyone who questioned Nazi high-handedness in the German press was branded a "Conservative Reactionary". Joseph Goebbels, minister of communications, proclaimed a "New World Order".

To set the record straight: Hitler was not a Christian, the Nazis were not Christians, Nazi Germany was not a Christian theocracy. It was a militant secularist, socialist regime that championed the sovereignty of man rather than the sovereignty of God. In February 1937, Hanns Kerrl, Minister of Religion in the Third Reich said: "The question of the divinity of Christ is ridiculous and inessential. A new answer has arisen as to what Christ and Christianity are: Adolph Hitler." University Nazis in Keil wrote in 1935: "We Germans are heathens and want no more Jewish religion in our Germany. We no longer believe in the Holy Ghost; we believe in the Holy Blood." Baldur von Schirach, head of the Hitler Youth, before World War II said, "Our religion is Germany." In fact, grace before meals given to poor children by the Nazi Welfare Committee ended: "For this food, my Fuehrer, my thanks I render."

Attendants in the UK

In recent years, a number of club and pubs in the UK have also gained attendants. These are generally seen as unnecessary and unpleasant additions to the establishment, gaining the nickname "Bog Trolls".

The name "Bog Troll" derives from "Bog", a British slang word for "toilet", and "Troll" because they inhabit the toilet demanding money, similar to a troll under a bridge, for a task it would appear the customer has been able to perform himself for many years (washing their hands).

It is generally viewed that if one doesn't want to pay the attendant, one must refrain from washing one's hands and have to permit to the inherent hygenic risk.

NAZI is a German acronym for "National Socialists Workers Party". (nationalization of an industry just means that the government took over ownership of large businesses and controlled how they operated)

______________

Let's unpack this latest windy gust of assholery, shall we?

The clumsy shit-head's message seems to be:
..............

Boy, I bet a Republican apologist ditto-head flak like me can do a real service for Rush Limbaugh by idiotically pointing out that George W. Bush actually can't (psyche!) create hurricanes and so he's (Q.E.D.uh!) not responsible for anything.

In addition to ignoring the obvious difference between a natural catastrophe and a natural catastrophe *compounded* by the malignent gross negligence of the Bush administration (obvious-to-all-but-cynical-liars-and-reflexive-apologists, that is), I also steadfastly choose to ignore how George W. Bush blatantly lied about knowing about the levees being breached (and yet still did nothing for days), and I steadfastly ignore that George W. Bush lacks even minimal management and leadership and character skills, so much so that instead of acting like a president during a crisis, instead he glibly attended fund-raisers while a major American city drowned.

(Hey, cool! Another presidential melt-down inna crisis, just like 9/11, but this time played out in super-slo-mo!)

George W. Bush did jack-shit while New Orleans was drowning. He failed. Monumentally. Again.

B/c when George W. Bush is not actively fucking things up, he is, as w/New Orleans, passively fucking things up. It's his nature. B/c he is useless at the very best and a congenital fuck-up at worst.

None of this bothers me a bit, of course. In fact, I'd rather have the country fall completely apart just so long's it allows me the supreme satisfaction of goading liberals. Cuz that's what I really enjoy.

Have a nice day!

There is no amount of Republican failure, no amount of Republican disgrace, no amount of Republican disaster that will ever persuade a person like CM to disavow these people, much less take responsibility for supporting their actions.

It's kinda funny you postin' stuff 'bout Nazis, CM, b/c you remind me of nothing if not the brain-washed temperament of the Hitler Youth.
