Alice What's The Matter

Alice what's the matter, Alice what's the matter
Alice what's the matter, Alice what's the matter
Something about her she reminds me of you
Something about him he could be me too
Something about them something about the other
Something I've got to tell you about my dad and your mother
Feels like a Saturday, free and easy going
Reminded its a Sunday, to stop the flow from flowing
You can see clearly now the rain has gone
But it looks like someone's gone and dropped the bomb
Alice what's the matter, Alice what's the matter
Alice what's the matter, Alice what's the matter

Watching Alice

Alice wakes
It is morning
She is yawning
As she walks about the room
Her hair falls down her breast
She is naked and it is June

Standing at the window
I wonder if she knows that I can see

Watching Alice rise year after year
Up in her palace, she's captive there

Alice's body
Is golden brown
Her hair hangs down
As she stoops to conquer me
First she pulls her stocking on
And then the church bell chimes
Alice climbes into her uniform
The zippers on the side
Watching Alice dressing in her room
It's so depressing, it's cruel

Watching Alice dressing in her room
It's so depressing, it's true

Alice-Sisters of Mercy

She stays pressed against the wall so
She can see the door
In case the laughing strangers call and
Crush the petals on the floor
Alice in her party dress she
Thanks you kindly so serene she
Needs you like she needs her thanks to
Tell her that the world is clean to
Promise her a definition
Tell her where the rain will fall
Tell her where the sun shines brigth and
Tell her she can have it all
Today

Pass the crystal spread the tarot
In illusion comfort lies the
Safest way the straight and narrow
No confusion no surprise
Alice in her party dressed to kill she
Needs you like she needs the pills to
Tell her that the world's okay to
Promise her a definition
Tell her where the rain will fall
Tell her where the sun shines brigth and
Tell her she can have it all
Today
Today
Alice
Don't give it away

Alice's House

In the house where Alice lives
(Alice's)
it's a mess of souvenirs
let to remind you telling the time
people say it's cold outside
you disagree, she's telling me...
Come and spend the day at Alice's House
pass some time away at Alice's House
write a note saying "Please don't go, please don't go"
In the
without a key
the butler is serving tea
wearing a shirt without any sleeves
in the bedroom down the hall
your secret sleeps
why don't you stay?
In the house where Alice lives
(Alice's)
It's a mess of souvenirs
let to remind you telling the time
Alice's house

Alice

Now Alice needed money I put $10 on the breeze,
As the wind died away she sank way below her knees,
And as a hurricane passed by she clutched the money from the sky,
She must have been at least a fathom high.
She works the 42nd beat on 42nd street,
with all her golden ambitions and dead rhinestones in her feet,
and when a stranger said she sucked she just smiled believing luck,
as she climed into his truck to make a buck.
Oh my god, she's running round the trees,
Said she couldn't touch them because they're so real.
Alice you remind me of Manhattan,
The seedy and the snaz, the shoeboys and the satins,
Like a throne made of gilt that too many johns have sat in,
Oh, I got my eyes on you.
Now keep a watch on your watch and a watch on her watch,
cause if you ain't too careful he's gonna kick you in the crotch,
and you're out in the cold and you know that you've been rolled,
and the cops don't even stop and you feel old.
See Alice really liked you but you stayed a while too long,
now she wants you to forget it and come back before too long,
but make it quick if you could, she's gonna star in Hollywood,
the producer seems to think, she's kinda good.
Me and my camera eyes sitting on a fence,
laughing at the lights of New York City.
Alice you remind of Manhattan,
the seedy and snaz, the shoeboys and the satins,
like a throne made of gilt that too many johns have sat in.
Oh, just come over.
ROLL UP
See Alice on the palace where her name adorns the boards,
ain't no flash in her Cannes, she got the willpower of a horse,
and it's a long way to Broadway from a 42nd lay,
or is it really just a couple of blocks away.
Now I wonder if she wonders if I wonder if she wonders
about the times I put her down when she seemed to be right under?
She told me morals are traditions, contradictions, superstitions,
see Alice is always based on split decisions.
Me and my stupidity sittin' on a fence
and digging what I thought was New York City.
Oh Alice, you remind me of Manhattan,
the seedy and snaz, the shoeboys and the satins,
like a throne made of gilt that too many johns have sat in,
Oh, I like you
Yeah Alice, the lights were meant for you,
your weaknesses successful and your selfishness the clue,
you gotta lose what you get and for what you get you lose,
Oh, I know it.
Oh Alice, don't stop and think a minute
or your brain is gonna get ya, drop your heart right in it,
and you're a shooting star and you'll die if you don't win it.
Yeah
You didn't make the book

Hey Little Alice

(hey little alice, hey little alice)
I know a little girl lives down the street (hey little alice)
She’s a rockin’ little mama, and she sure is sweet (hey little alice)
She comes out early with the rising sun (hey little alice)
She comes back in the evening when the day is done (hey little alice)
Night time comes and she’s out again (hey little alice)
Well this time, this is where the fun begins (hey little alice)
Down at the corner there’s a local dance (hey little alice)
Every weekend there’s a local band (hey little alice)
Featuring nothing but rock and roll (hey little alice)
Alice wouldn’t miss this to save her soul (hey little alice)
(hey little alice, hey little alice)

I went to the corner and walked in the door (hey little alice)
Alice as usual had took the floor (hey little alice)
Like the girl with the red dress on (hey little alice)
She could shake that thing all night long (hey little alice)
Right behind me I heard some people say (hey little alice)
She never quits until the band stops playing (hey little alice)
(hey little alice, hey little alice)

I’m talking about alice now, you know she’s alright (hey little alice)
I said she’s alright now, I said she’s my girl (hey little alice)
I’m talking about alice now, I’m talking about alice now
Oh yeah now, I said come on, come on

Living Next Door To Alice

Sally called when she got the word,
She said, I suppose you've heard about Alice
Well, I rushed to the window, and I looked outside
I could hardly believe my eyes
As a big limousine rolled up into Alice's drive

Don't know why she's leaving, or where she's gonna go
I guess she's got her reasons but I just don't want to know
'cos for twenty-four years I've been living next door to Alice
Twenty-four years just waiting for the chance
To tell her how I feel and maybe get a second glance
Now I've got to get used to not living next door to Alice

We grew up together two kids in the park
We carved our initials deep in the bark, me and Alice
Now she walks through the door with her head held high
Just for a moment, I caught her eye
A big limousine pulled slowly out of Alice's drive

Sally called back and asked how I felt
And she said, hey I know how to help - get over Alice
She said now Alice is gone but I'm still here
You know I've been waiting for twenty-four years
And the big limousine disapeared

Don't know why she's leaving, or where she's gonna go
I guess she's got her reasons but I just don't want to know
'cos for twenty-four years I've been living next door to Alice
Twenty-four years just waiting for the chance
To tell her how I feel and maybe get a second glance
Now I've got to get used to not living next door to Alice

No I'll never get used to not living next door to Alice

Raised to be a lady by the golden rule

Raised to be a lady by the golden rule
Alice was the spawn of a public school
With a double barrel name in the back of her brain
And a simple case of Mummy-doesn't-love-me blues

Reality it seems was just a dream
She couldn't get it on with the boys on the scene
But what do you expect from a chick who's just sixteen
And hey, hey, hey, you know what I mean

All the young girls love Alice
Tender young Alice they say
Come over and see me
Come over and please me
Alice it's my turn today

All the young girls love Alice
Tender young Alice they say
If I give you my number
Will you promise to call me
Wait till my husband's away

Poor little darling with a chip out of her heart
It's like acting in a movie when you got the wrong part
Getting your kicks in another girl's bed
And it was only last Tuesday they found you in the subway dead

And who could you call your friends down in Soho
One or two middle-aged dykes in a Go-Go
And what do you expect from a sixteen year old yo-yo
And hey, hey, hey, oh don't you know

Alice In Vain

Alice in the playground
She ain't got a boyfriend
Oh, oh, that's a pity
She's not even pretty
Alice hears them whisper
They smile when they see her
Oh, oh, she'll discover
Girls don't hurt each other
Hey, don't kid yourself
Girl love help yourself
Hey, don't kid yourself
Girl love help yourself
I hurt myself
I hurt my Alice in vain
Alice doesn't eat much
Alice don't go out much
Oh, oh, now you're happy
It's too late for Alice
Hey, don't kid yourself
Girl love help yourself
Hey, don't kid yourself
Girl love help yourself
I hurt myself
I hurt my Alice in vain
Alice in vain
I hurt myself
I hurt my Alice in vain
Alice in vain

Alice And The Spooks

Little girls in little blonde curls
In reddish frilly messes
Eat their lunch alone,
Served by brunette waitresses
The eyes the color of
Burnishes doors,
Their thoughts slipping from their dresses.

A six year old Alice
Finishes her chicken and waffles,
She goes outside, screams,
Grits her teeth, unloads her guns
The bullets bang
Onomatopoetics.

There are boatloads of boogiemen
Eating the streets,
The gangs of vampires kissing
The sweet coeds’ necks,
While the Goth chicks take
Snapshots like Japanese tourists.

Her mom and dad are out there too,
Dressed like Ralph Lauren and Lash LeRoux,
But they are not who you think they are
As they moan to her, “Why aren’t you
In preschool? ”

But school, she knows, is the worst
Place to be,
Because there’s a hole in the courtyard
As deep as the sea
Out of which the Big Bad things churn,
Not unlike a scoop of ice-cream soft serve.

Down at the end of the street
In the atmospheric light of a terminally ill sun,
Someone is whistling like Clint Eastwood.
She sees who it is, all the old gang,
Death and his boys: Pestilence, Famine, War,
Frank and Jesse James.

They’re all smoking as they come
Out of the brothel.
They just killed all the gods in the sky,
So the heavens lay like breathless still-life—
Like the black apple and the brown pear
They made her finger-paint in art class;
But all she really cares about is that
Her chewing gum is getting tasteless.

She steps forward, our dear young Alice,
Her little blonde curls tied in red bows,
In tumbling, frilly messes.
She swears, she curses, she gives
A useless Jesus the bird,
Then she takes her little foot
And draws a line in the dirt,

She blows a pink bubble,
Cocks her gun and gives all that’s Evil
Ten seconds to run.

Oh Alice..

The future is coming

It's moving in for the kill

Where is the drug

To make me sit back and chill?

At times I'm too little

For this looming dream of mine

Where is the potion

So I can grow just in time?

But the doorway's too small

I can't seem to fit

Is there a pill that I can take

In time to make it?

Irate mistake

Must you chase me all my days

I cant go back to alter past

I promise, I have changed my ways

I fear The Man

Will want my head

Is there a remedy so that I

Don't wake from my bed?

Will one day I stir

And find this a dream

A book in my lap

With my future to scheme?

Symbolism in Alice in Wonderland

There are many symbols that are expressed in the movie entitled 'Alice in Wonderland'. Many people have analyzed the dream provided in this movie, and have created many interpretations for Alice's dream. I am going to analyze three symbols expressed in the dream.

The first symbol that I would like to point out would be Alice's experience in the flower garden. There were a variety of flowers in the garden. When Alice got her chance to sing 'Golden Afternoon' with the flowers, her part expressed how much happiness and romance there was between the flowers. She was having a great time with the flowers until they realized that she was different, and they rejected her from the garden. I believe that this represents Alice's social life. The garden represents Alice's society, and the flowers represent the different people in Alice's society that she wanted to get along with. I think Alice's rejection is a symbol of not being accepted by others. Even though there were so many types of flowers, she couldn't fit in any group because she was different.

The next symbol that I wish to analyze is the king and queen of hearts. In the movie, it seems as if the queen is more powerful than the queen. Everyone in the royal court is afraid that they will lose their head if they don't follow the queen's rules and do what she wants. Everything has to be her way, no matter how ridiculous her way is. The king's opinion doesn't really matter. Sometimes the king can persuade the queen to do something, but that's it. The king has no authority. I believe that this is a representation of Alice's parents. Alice's mother is the dominant parent, and the king is the weaker one. The mother is the one who sets the rules and makes everybody follow them.

The last symbol that I will analyze is the cheshire cat. The cheshire cat pops in and out of Alice's dream. It gives her advice, and guides her through Wonderland. When Alice is stuck and has no idea what to do, the cheshire cat comes to save her by giving her advice. It seems that the cheshire cat is the only character in the movie that can help Alice because everyone else is crazy. I believe that the cheshire cat is a representation of Alice's thoughts or conscience. The reason that I believe this is because the cat seems to be giving her both good and bad ideas, like a conscience. It also has the appearence of a seven year old girl's conscience. It's a pink cat with a sinister smile. The pink represents her 'girlish' personality. I think that the two shades of pink represent good and bad.
