Sam, you may need omega fatty acids which are GOOD oils. Flax oil (good on salad greens) or the old faithful, cod liver oil (a spoonful while you hold your nose). Or all kinds of these oils are now available in nutritional sections and healthfood stores. (Especially look into one particular type -- DHA -- which might be out of balance for you; some of the good oil supplements provide DHA with other of these oils, so look for it.)
If it's got a fungal component, try Pau d'arco tea or capsules.
To knock out anything (fungal, parasite, bacterial) that complicates this by reducing your resistence, take grapefruit seed extract (GSE) mixed in water/beverage as directed on the bottle for a week.
Up your Vitamin A.
Never forget: B vitamins are water soluable, and we use 'em up fast when under STRESS. Up your Vitamin B Complex! Get the stress dose and take it morning and evening.
Finally, when the body becomes too acid, all kinds of inflammation processes take place. Get alkalin. It may be as easy as taking one-eighth to one-quarter teaspoon baking soda dissolved in a glass of water the first thing in the morning when you get up. (What acidifies the body? Sugary stuff like sweets, sodas, candy, white flour baked goods; oily fried foods; too much vinegar, booze (it's like sugar).) (What foods are alkaline? Avocado is my favorite. Sea vegetables -- crumble, tear up, cut up some nori seaweed paper on your vegetables.)
Take a cool bath with some baking soda dissolved in the water.
Bless you and your itchy spots!
$ 6-700 a month for heating oil
Gov. Palin (R- Alaska) proposed a $1.2 billion program to grant relief through a two-part plan, one being a fuel debit card worth $100 a month for 12 months issued to permanent fund dividend recipients, and a second that would provide grants to utilities that would have them reduce utility costs to consumers by 60 percent.

Roads instead of Amtrak -- that's because
The Bush Oil Pals love those roads. They're made of oil -- that is, asphalt is an oil product. They don't want those rail lines. They want to pave them with asphalt too.
Call you public works department in your home town and ask them how much it costs to asphalt one mile of road. In my town 20 years ago it cost $3 million per mile.
When you lay track it is there almost forever with maintenance mostly of the track bed itself. But asphalt roads, they wear out fast, because the weather --of ANY kind, good or bad -- destroys them.
Gas-guzzling cars and oily asphalt roads -- WHAT a scam!

I have never had the habit of watching Seder V Maron only listened to the AAR show. I tuned in today because The Young Turks is airing later today at a different time than usual and someone in the chat mention Seder V Maron was on so I happily hoped right over. It is a similar audience and I would be torn towards Seder only because I often podcast The Young Turks.
Both of you keep doing what you do so well.

We lost one of the cable channels here at the hotel...so they had to replace it with something else...and the engineer choose CSPAN!!! (FOR ME I AM SURE)
Because I am the longest living resident here AND I sent them an e-mail in the middle of the night telling them that 9 channels went bye bye due to the storms last night so they didn't get blindsided this morning.
YEAH!!! I have CSPAN on TV again!!! I feel 1/3 more normal!!

Nefferkitti!
Thanks for the tip on the C-SPAN podcasts... I can't find any archives of raw audio from the floor (like last night's reading) but at least I can get something for commute time.
And if i catch someone pointing out some activity, I can still have one little trick to get through the office firewall and catch the audio-only stream. Our IT department will close that if they discover my trick, so i'm saving it for now. I'm sure i'll be listening on Friday at any rate.
lucille what's wrong with your baby? Does she have the flu?
I hope it's nothing serious, you did mention the other day that she threw up
the show was very good - they started with eczema (sam has something on this throat) but fortunately went on from there to more universal subjects, though they did stay on the personal actually, the usual, no job yet (but prospects and plans) for sam, lawyer and ex-wife problems for marc. They talked about their dads who are being swindled by right wing snake oil sellers who talk anti-obama and forward to their sons, sam and marc, derogatory paranoid crazy emails claiming obama is some sort of evil candidate who's plotting some horrible takeover of the country - and they don't understand how their educated dads can go for this shit and propagate, so sam is thinking of rerouting all these emails attaching everything he knows about mcain with videos.
They talked about trains and that was the best part imo - i enjoyed their train stories, but that was cut short by a glitch - marc did something weird and lost the sound
in short, the usual good stuff, too short and too rare, we certainly need more than 1 hour a week of this

Disoriented because of SHOCK after SHOCK
Just like Naomi Klein's "The Shock Doctrine" explains.
Insert a neeocon-engineered enemy or attacker and it turns to 'fear'.
If no reason is given for the confusion, then Randi's caller is correct -- it is 'anxiety', generalized, diffuse, and one tries to assuage it via drugs, booze, food, shopping, search for physical comfort.
I like Randi's observation that without an honest corporate media explaining what's happening with the economic situation, most people are 'disoriented' and will remain disoriented until they get their bearings via FACTS and explanations.
SHOCK > disorientation > either anxiety or fear
Nora - You are SOOO right
People I have known forever are so filled with anxiety that they are only able to see things from the point of view of FEAR.... relating back to 9-11 and bioterrorism and dirty bombs - nothing else gets thru that all consuming feeling of fear of the "fear of fear itself"
Hyper vigilence...that is the state of being that the administration has wanted to put the society into, and for those authoritarians who cannot allow themselves to see anything other than what they are told to see, they cannot live in any other state of being than constant fear of being unprepared for "?"...and its that unknown that is the most fearful thing to them.

Waxman for Attorney General!
Randi's suggestion is a good one! Waxman is the "mustache of justice"!
(Ever since it became clear that John Edwards is not for civil rights for gays (as in a marriage LICENSE), I don't want him on the Supreme Court. I thought he would have been good there, someone for the little guy, until it was clear he doesn't care to extend full citizenship to gays. His wife Elizabeth doesn't agree with him.)
Aww, Lucille!
I hope it's nothing serious, but it's a shame for her to miss the end of the school year like this. Nothing worries a parent like when a child is ill. Sending good thoughts your way, wishing her a speedy recovery and low Dr bills for you... ;-)
Presidential Line of Succession - Link and details below
http://www.usconstitution.net/consttop_succ.html
The 25th Amendment reiterates what is stated in Article 2, Section 1: that the Vice President is the direct successor of the President. He or she will become President if the President cannot serve for whatever reason. The 25th also provides for a President who is temporarily disabled, such as if the President has a surgical procedure or if he or she become mentally unstable.
The original Constitution provides that if neither the President nor Vice President can serve, the Congress shall provide law stating who is next in line. Currently that law exists as 3 USC 19, a section of the U.S. Code. This law was established as part of the Presidential Succession Act of 1947. There, the following line of succession is provided:
Speaker of the House of Representatives
President Pro Tempore of the Senate
Secretary of State
Secretary of the Treasury
Secretary of Defense
Attorney General
Secretary of the Interior
Secretary of Agriculture
Secretary of Commerce
Secretary of Labor
Secretary of Health and Human Services
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development
Secretary of Transportation
Secretary of Energy
Secretary of Education
Secretary of Veterans Affairs
Secretary of Homeland Security
The only exception to the line provided in the law states that to ascend to the Presidency, the next person in line must be constitutionally eligible. Any person holding an office in the line of succession who, for example, is not a naturally-born citizen cannot become President. In this case, that person would be skipped and the next eligible person in the line would become President.
To see who holds these posts, see The Cabinet Topic Page.
The Bush Cabinet (as of Febraury 24, 2008):
The President (George Bush)
The Vice President (Richard Cheney)
Secretary of Agriculture (Ed Schafer)
Secretary of Commerce (Carlos Gutierrez)
Secretary of Defense (Robert Gates)
Secretary of Education (Margaret Spellings)
Secretary of Energy (Samuel Bodman)
Secretary of Health and Human Services (Michael Leavitt)
Secretary of Homeland Security (Michael Chertoff)
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (Alphonso Jackson)
Secretary of Interior (Dirk Kempthorne)
Attorney General (Michael Mukasey)
Secretary of Labor (Elaine Chao)
Secretary of State (Condoleezza Rice)
Secretary of Transportation (Mary Peters)
Secretary of Treasury (Henry Paulson)
Secretary of Veterans Affairs (James Peake)
Chief of Staff (Joshua Bolten)

I know. But, I think that because of the corner that the admin put the dem leaders in - by keeping them IN the loop about what they were doing regarding torture and warrentless wiretapping etc... I do not think that Pelosi etc... had in their minds any other choice.
Not that I agree with their minds...but to reveal what they knew would be treason...just like what the white house did with Valerie Plame...so how do we call the valerie plame incident treason, and not call anyone who stood up and revealed what they knew - told to them under secrecy -treason as well?

If that in fact is true a new Speaker will be selected soon. But you know I don't believe any of that crap because Nancy would have been barred from telling her staff what was going on. She could not have sought legal counsel. She was put in a compromised position so she won't be judged the way you are thinking.

13 Percent unemployment
Randi exposes the Bush Big Lie about the Bush Era Job Scene.
Bush says unemployment is only 5 Percent but Bush has scammed the stat process.
Bush has scammed the stats on the Iraq war casualty and mortality rates, too. Only those who die in Iraq are counted as dead; those who die in transit to hospitals or in hospitals or die later fro, their wounds in the States aren't counted. As for the wounded, Bush started a scam early in 2007 to count only certain kinds of wounds and situations in which wounds occur, and thus Bush proudly claims a decrease in wounded and casualties.
Bush scams. And wants us to pat him on the back for the lies.

Tax Relief for the Middle Class
These difficult times are not an accident of history - they are a consequence of a tired and misguided economic philosophy in Washington. It's a philosophy that values wealth but not the work that creates it. That's how we've ended up with tax loopholes that allow companies to stash profits and ship jobs overseas. That's why we have seen tax cut after tax cut for the wealthiest Americans who don't need them and didn't ask for them. And that's why we're burdened with a tax code that's too complicated for ordinary folks to understand, but just complicated enough for Washington lobbyists who know how to work the system.

Worse Than Fascists: Christian Political Group 'The Family'
Through personal relationships and small group encounters, Vereide united captains of industry and politicians as a Biblical bulwark against the increasing power of organized labor.
In the late 1940s, the Family helped roll back key pro-labor provisions of the New Deal. Later, the Family did its part for the Cold War by cultivating anti-communist strongmen around the world, including repressive leaders like Suharto of Indonesia and Jonas Savimbi of Angola.
The roster of current and former Family members includes senators, congressmen, Fortune 500 CEOs, generals and at least one Supreme Court justice. The Family does not publish membership lists, and its members are sworn to secrecy, so a full accounting is impossible.
Sen. Hillary Clinton has been involved with the Family since 1993

Cuba to abandon wage caps
Cuba is to abandon egalitarian salaries after decades of government control in a bid to improve the nation's productivity, a senior government official has revealed.
It is thought that an end to the capped wages set up by Fidel Castro in 1959 could spark the beginnings of a new middle class in Cuba.
In an interview published in Granma, the Communist party's daily newspaper the minister for labour and social security, Carlos Mateu, said the current system gave employees little incentive to excel because everyone earned the same regardless of how much work they put in.

GOP says fraud may have cost groups $750,000
WASHINGTON (AP) - Investigators for the committee that runs House Republican campaigns say a former treasurer appears to have stolen at least $725,000 from the group since 2001.
An internal probe alleged that the former treasurer, Christopher Ward, used his authority to order wire transfers to siphon money meant for the GOP committee into his own accounts.
Ward also appears to have taken at least $28,000 from the group in charge of Senate Republican campaigns, said lawyer Robert K. Kelner. Kelner is one of a team of lawyers hired by the National Republican Congressional Committee to investigate.

GOP group reports Ward took $15,000
Ward, who worked for the NRCC for more than 12 years, is suspected of having diverted hundreds of thousands of dollars from the House GOP campaign committee, although the exact figure is still unclear. The NRCC recently filed an amended disclosure report covering the month of December, stating that it had $740,000 less cash on hand than originally reported to the FEC, a portion of which Ward allegedly diverted to his own use.
NRCC Chairman Tom Cole (R-Okla.) and lawyers for the committee have suggested that Ward embezzled “several hundred thousand dollars” beginning in 2003 until his alleged scheme was exposed in January. Ward was also affiliated with dozens of other Republican campaigns and PACs. GOP sources suspect he also took funds from a number of them.

Tell The Senate Judiciary Committee: No More Bush Judges
CREDO Action.
George Bush has only nine months left in office. During that time he could make lifetime appointments to the federal courts that would ensure his legacy for another 50 years. But there's a way to stop him.
Bush and his allies are still trying to ram through a set of ultra-conservative judicial nominees. However, there is a longstanding Senate practice of ending the consideration of controversial nominations in the months before a presidential election. The Senate should simply refuse to move forward with confirmation proceedings for Bush's extreme judicial nominees.

Thousands who earn $200,000+ avoid income tax
Death is inevitable, but federal income taxes aren't for an increased number of high-income earners.
New IRS statistics show 7,389 federal tax returns with $200,000 or more in adjusted gross income reported no federal income taxes in 2005. That's a 161% jump from the 2,833 comparable returns filed in 2004.
Additionally, 4,224 of the over-$200,000 earners reported no worldwide income tax liability on their 2005 returns, the IRS data show. That represents a 75% increase from the 2,420 comparable returns filed in 2004.
The data are the most recent available from the IRS. It shows a rising number of high-income earners have avoided the alternative minimum tax, which was intended to ensure that tax shelters, deductions and loopholes wouldn't exempt wealthy Americans from paying at least some federal income tax.
