fernando thanks for the thanks
but no thanks, it wasn't me who came up with the orange oil suggestion, though i may have commented about it that it sounded like a good idea
by the way, was it you that recommended something about snails? I have snails in my backyard eating up all my potted plants and i remember discussing this on the blog and getting some recommendations which i was too lazy to follow (some of them involved beer? or am i thinking of something else?); do you have any suggestions for snails fernando? And I do not mean not recipes, because this breed is too small to eat! though you would think they would get bigger just by the amount of plant devastation they're causing in my yard
English Townsfolk destroy Palin effigy with explosives
BATTLE, England (CNN) -- Townsfolk in England have delivered their explosive verdict on Sarah Palin, stuffing a giant effigy of the U.S. Republican vice presidential nominee with fireworks and blowing her up to raucous cheers.
Sarah Palin was depicted holding a machine gun, flanked by a moose and Barack Obama.
Sarah Palin was depicted holding a machine gun, flanked by a moose and Bar
The unusual display was the climax of an annual bonfire celebration Saturday in the southern town of Battle, where political figures are a favorite target of a local tradition that sees a different icon destroyed each year.
This year's creation was a rather unflattering depiction of the self-declared "hockey mom," a machine gun brandished in her muscular arms, bright red lipstick surrounding a grimacing smile and a moose at her side.
Daubed beneath her was the slogan: "Too hot to handle."

Halloween is not just for kids!
Halloween is not just only for kids. Even adults also celebrate this season. I remember when i was a little child, I always look forward to more than Halloween trick-or-treating. My sweet tooth knew no bounds when it came to that all-night - and day, and the next day – candy bacchanalia. It was candy carnival, drums thumping, dancers shaking, feathers and fireworks filling the sky with molted flame. When I say that I had a sweet tooth, I do not exaggerate. If a candy was sour, I couldn’t hang. I was – and I still am – a chocolate fiend. Leave it to me to drop jaw and prove Magellan wrong, because if the world were made of chocolate, I’d munch it flat. However, my Halloween routine had nothing on the Trick-or-Treater’s coding system these folks in Sacramento, California created. They have a chalk-marking system where the kids leave codes for each other in chalk at the foot of the driveway telling the other kids everything from, "no one home" to "full size candy bars" and even "mean dog." With those kinds of clear signals, I would have saved my parents and myself a lot of time. I wish that families who were facing temporarily rough financial times back then would have considered timely personal loans to help them score some good chocolates and candy bars. They’re affordable and easy to pay back over time. In fact, they’d have paid off their loan before I even finished all the candy in my bag!

BREAKING: Federal Judge Compels GOP IT Guru Mike Connell To
Give Deposition in Ohio '04 Election Case
Contentious Hearing Today Results in Order For Republican 'High-Tech Forrest Gump' to Testify Under Oath on Monday
Appearance to Answer Questions on 2004 Election Scheduled Just 24 Hours Prior to Election 2008...
Guest Blogged by Steve Heller of VelvetRevolution.us
The Republican IT guru, recently described as a "high tech Forrest Gump" for his proclivity to be "at the scene" of so many troubling elections since 2000, and even at the heart of the "lost" White House email scandal, has been ordered by a federal judge to appear for an under-oath deposition next Monday in Ohio.
The BRAD BLOG has learned that Mike Connell, the Republican IT guru whose company, GovTech Solutions, created Ohio's 2004 election results computer network, appeared in federal court today, as compelled, and has been ordered to appear for his deposition on Monday, November 3, just 24 hours before Election Day 2008.
Today's court order came after a contentious hearing, at which Connell was present. The hearing was part of a long-standing voting rights violations lawsuit, King Lincoln v. Blackwell, as previously covered by The BRAD BLOG and by Velvet Revolution's Election Protection Strike Force here and here.
Though Connell's attorneys have fought to quash the subpoena, recently issued after the judge lifted a stay on the case several weeks ago, it looks like his options to avoid testimony, or at least jail for avoiding it, may have come to an end. The attorneys in the case have said that Connell's testimony may well lead to the subpoenaing and under-oath questioning of Karl Rove, who, they say, would be unable to use Executive Privilege as an excuse to avoid such a subpoena in a civil RICO case...

Breaking the Law for
Breaking the Law for McCain
You may have noticed that the AP is reporting that Barack Obama's aunt (who he does not seem to have a relationship with) was denied asylum in the US four years ago and is now living illegally in Boston. Convenient timing, ain't it?
The real story, though, is down in the third paragraph of the AP story ...
Information about the deportation case was disclosed and confirmed by two separate sources, one of them a federal law enforcement official. The information they made available is known to officials in the federal government, but the AP could not establish whether anyone at a political level in the Bush administration or in the McCain campaign had been involved in its release.
That's about as transparent a red flag as an outfit like the AP is usually willing to give. And there you have it. Quite likely working in concert with the McCain campaign, a Bush administration official is leaking details on an immigration case to try to help McCain three days before the election. It's shades of Bush I's riffling through Bill Clinton's passport files just before the 1992 election in a desperate last minute gambit as they were swirling down the drain.
http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/241682.php
Late Update: Note too that the story first got leaked to the Times of London, a Murdoch paper with a history of taking planted stories from Republicans for siphoning back into the US media.

500 Absentee Ballots Rejected for Alleged Signature Mismatches in Duval County, FL
No Recourse Allowed for Voters Once Ballot is Rejected...
Guest Blogged by John Gideon of VotersUnite.org
From News4 in Jacksonville, FL...
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- Election officials scrutinizing absentee ballots in Duval County have rejected more than 500 ballots out of the 1,600 questionable ballots examined so far.
Most of those were rejected because they lack signatures or the signatures don't match the voter's signature on file.
Lisa Rigg was worried her signature didn't match and contacted the Supervisor of Elections office.
"It's that important to me. I want my vote to absolutely count for this election. It is very important," Rigg said.
She was right. Her absentee vote is one of those that was rejected.
"I was a little shocked," Rigg said. "But then again, my signature does not always match, from day to day. I said, 'What can I do to fix this? Can I come down and prove to you that I am who I am and I signed that ballot.'"
Unfortunately, the answer was no. Once a ballot is cast, it cannot be changed or replaced by a new ballot.
If the signature doesn't match the voter is not asked to provide proof of who they are? In Washington state if our signature does not match on our absentee ballot the county contacts you and gives you the opportunity to go to the county election office and provide ID and your ballot is then accepted.

Convergence As you know,
Convergence
As you know, Gallup has been running three separate numbers in its daily tracking poll -- registered voters and then both a 'traditional' and an 'expanded' likely voter numbers. Much has been made, especially by McCain supporters, of the fact that the 'traditional' number has shown Obama ahead by as little as 2 points -- well within the margin of error. However, in the last few days, the three numbers have been converging. As of yesterday's reading (the most recent), the registered number had Obama 11 points ahead, the 'expanded' number 9 points ahead and the 'traditional' number had him 8 points ahead.
Beside the numbers being generally good for Obama, one question I have is why the three numbers are converging, as opposed to moving in Obama's direction with the same spread between them.
One possibility is the number of voters who've already voted. Gallup is also monitoring how many voters say they plan to vote early and how many say they have already voted early. I'm not certain how Gallup is computing their numbers. But the key in these different likely voter 'screens' is what you'll take as evidence from a voter to believe they're likely to vote. One of the key differences in a lot of these 'expanded' models, though I'm not certain about Gallup specifically, is whether the pollster is willing to believe you're a 'likely' voter even if you have not voted before. Now, once someone has already voted, they're not only a 'likely' voter but a certain voter. So I wonder whether some of the convergence may due to uncertain 'likely' voters, who made the cut in the expanded but not the 'traditional' screen, now reporting that they've actually voted and are thus now being counted in both tallies.
To be clear, I'm not certain about Gallup's methodology in this respect. So count this as informed speculation. But these are the approaches being used by a few other polling outfits. So I think this is a good supposition. We'll look into it today and report back to you.

Senator Ensign, chair of Senate GOP's campaign committee, trashes McCain and Palin

You'd expect Republican Senator John Ensign to criticize Obama. That's not news. It is news when another GOPer slams Palin.
At this point in an election, the chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, shouldn't be trashing the top of his ticket. But, that's what he did yesterday
Republican Sen. John Ensign says Sarah Palin is not experienced enough to be president and John McCain’s presidential campaign “completely mishandled” her early days on the ticket.
The Nevada senator made the comments in a television interview in which he also criticized Democratic nominee Barack Obama’s readiness for the job. Ensign then strayed far from the GOP’s standard description of its vice presidential pick’s qualifications.
Now, Ensign is, of course, on the verge of overseeing huge losses in the Senate. So, he's obviously trying to assign blame elsewhere.

As far as the polls, you still have to concentrate on the individual state polls and even those can be fixed.
The right is putting it out there that the polls are close even though they aren't. They want to get to the people that haven't voted yet because advanced polls show Obama is ahead in the early voting.
Take them with a grain of salt.
What's funny is Zogby, for a long time, had the polls close when other polls showed big leads for Obama. Now the other polls seem to show a closer race and Zogby shows Obama with a lead.
Simulation Shows Obama Will
Simulation Shows Obama Will Win
Brian Adams, a mathematics and computer science professor at Franklin & Marshall College, reports that there's a 99.98% chance that Sen. Barack Obama will win the presidential election on Tuesday.
Adams has developed a simulation model that involves running 50 million simulated state-by-state races, using the late-October poll results for each state. He ran his simulation 50 million times to allow him to calculate all the different combinations of electoral votes that might result, even long shots. While the number of possible outcomes is very large, the result is always the same. Obama receives 270 or more electoral votes 99.98% of the time. Using intervals of electoral vote results, there is a 95 percent chance that the outcome will have Obama winning between 303 and 381 electoral votes.

Civil rights group renews Va. election lawsuit
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - The NAACP is resuming efforts to force Virginia to put more voting machines in polling places in majority black neighborhoods.
The civil rights group's Virginia chapter will return to federal court on Monday afternoon to argue the state is not prepared to handle an enormous voter surge expected Tuesday.
State Republicans plan to oppose the NAACP's request on grounds that altering voting procedures on the eve of the election would be disruptive and could unfairly disadvantage their candidates.

1 Trojan + 3 years = 500,000
1 Trojan + 3 years = 500,000 online financial accounts
RSA FraudAction Research Lab has discovered log-in information for about 300,000 online bank accounts and 250,000 credit and debit card accounts that have been gathered by a cybercrime gang over the past three years using the Sinowal Trojan.
"This may be one of the most pervasive and advanced pieces of crimeware ever created by fraudsters," according to a blog entry posted Friday from RSA, EMC's security unit.
The Sinowal Trojan infects computers without the owner knowing it by surrepticiously planting itself onto the computer while the owner is Web surfing in an attack dubbed a "drive-by download."
The malicious code is typically hidden on an unfamiliar Web site, often related to porn or gambling, but can also be found lurking on legitimate Web sites, says Sean Brady, manager of identity protection at RSA.
The Trojan is programmed to execute when the victim visits a particular banking or financial Web site; it is triggered by more than 2,700 specific URLs, according to RSA. The malware then inserts additional fields into the victim's browser prompting the victim to type in information such as PIN and Social Security number, which the Web site itself does not ask for.

The Bush gang's parting
The Bush gang's parting gift: a final, frantic looting of public wealth
The US bail-out amounts to a strings-free, public-funded windfall for big business. Welcome to no-risk capitalism
Naomi Klein
The Guardian, Friday October 31 2008
In the final days of the election many Republicans seem to have given up the fight for power. But don't be fooled: that doesn't mean they are relaxing. If you want to see real Republican elbow grease, check out the energy going into chucking great chunks of the $700bn bail-out out the door. At a recent Senate banking committee hearing, the Republican Bob Corker was fixated on this task, and with a clear deadline in mind: inauguration. "How much of it do you think may be actually spent by January 20 or so?" Corker asked Neel Kashkari, the 35-year-old former banker in charge of the bail-out.
When European colonialists realised that they had no choice but to hand over power to the indigenous citizens, they would often turn their attention to stripping the local treasury of its gold and grabbing valuable livestock. If they were really nasty, like the Portuguese in Mozambique in the mid-1970s, they poured concrete down the elevator shafts.
Nothing so barbaric for the Bush gang. Rather than open plunder, it prefers bureaucratic instruments, such as "distressed asset" auctions and the "equity purchase program". But make no mistake: the goal is the same as it was for the defeated Portuguese - a final, frantic looting of the public wealth before they hand over the keys to the safe.
How else to make sense of the bizarre decisions that have governed the allocation of the bail-out money? When the Bush administration announced it would be injecting $250bn into US banks in exchange for equity, the plan was widely referred to as "partial nationalisation" - a radical measure required to get banks lending again. Henry Paulson, the treasury secretary, had seen the light, we were told, and was following the lead of Gordon Brown. .......(more)

You Are How You Vote
http://www.dissidentvoice.org/2008/11/you-are-how-you-vote/
by DC Larson
If a person votes someone else’s character, than there is no point in their having cast a ballot, them self. They did not impress their individual perspective upon the process.
Voting in a democracy can be self-declaration. It can say, ‘I exist. I matter. This what I believe.”
But there is that ideal, and then there is a disappointing reality.
In a recent interview with Huffington Post columnist Allison Kilkenny, independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader decried self-described “progressive” voters’s ballot box-betrayals of belief.
“You take the 20 leading groups supporting [Barack Obama] in the liberal-progressive pantheon,” Nader said, “Labor, anti-poverty, civil rights, women’s rights, gay-lesbian rights, environment, consumer — you name it — not one of them is putting any demands on him. Unconditional voting for the least worst of the two parties means that your vote has no political leverage whatsoever. It allows Obama to take it for granted, and not give the anti-war people anything because he knows he has the anti-war vote. Then they go to the right wing and slice off a few votes there by going more corporate and flip-flopping on offshore drilling. This is the same merry-go-round every four years.”1
If progressive voters make no demands of a candidate prior to an election, instead uncritically enabling their ascension, they cannot reasonably anticipate subsequent
sympathetic audience. They’ve already demonstrated that they will vote for the candidate not reflective of their views.
And if a candidate is victorious without altering their messages and positions, they will continue in that suit. Why would they change, if they know they’ll get progressives’s votes, regardless?
...
Ouch ! That's gotta hurt..

I've got an ironic story about metal in the eyes...
I have a close friend who worked out at PDX as a sheet metal mechanic in the airframe shop for a small airline. Always wore his safety goggles. 20 plus years of cutting, grinding, shaping and riveting aircraft aluminum and steel, not one injury...One day he was weed whacking with one of those metal "bicycle chain" blade attachments, hit a rock, and sure enough, lost like 80% sight in one eye to a sliver of steel.
It worked out for him in the end though...now he is a shop supervisor and in charge of safety...diligently reminding others to wear their goggles....
His name is Steve too...small small world.

FBI’s Analytical Lexicon Lowers the Bar
the American Civil Liberties Union warned that,
The new guidelines reduce standards for beginning “assessments” (precursors to investigations), conducting surveillance and gathering evidence, meaning the threshold to beginning investigations across the board will be lowered. More troubling still, the guidelines allow a person’s race or ethnic background to be used as a factor in opening an investigation, a move the ACLU believes may institute racial profiling as a matter of policy. (”ACLU Condemns New FBI Guidelines,” Press Release, October 3, 2008)
In other words, an individual’s political views, racial background or ethnic origin can serve as a pretext for an investigation.

Repression Escalates:
Reporter Pedro Matías Kidnapped and Tortured in Oaxaca
Pedro Matías, a well-known reporter who writes for Noticias, a local daily paper, as well as the national weekly Proceso, was kidnapped, beaten, tortured and robbed on Saturday night in Oaxaca. Reporters Without Borders states that,
Matías was kidnapped as he left the newspaper to go home on the evening of 25 October. His abductors beat him and terrorised him for hours, simulating an execution, asking him how he preferred to die and variously threatening to drag him along the ground behind their car, cut off his genitals, rape him or behead him. They also threatened his family members, saying they had been “located.”
He was released the next morning some 30 km outside Oaxaca in Tlacolula de Matamoros, without his car and without his papers, which his abductors also took from him.
Matías does much reporting on the social movement in Oaxaca, usually giving it fair, if not occasionally favorable, coverage. According to Reporters Without Borders, he also is a contributor to a radio station and on it has criticized the PRI (Institutional Revolutionary Party), the party which has ruled Oaxaca for almost 80 years.

AP poll shows Obama backers gleeful, McCain's glum
I was having a chat with a friend of mine about the long lines even for early voting. He spent 2 hours in line here in Chicago yesterday. I told him about the 5 and 8 hour lines in Georgia and Florida and how people were determined to vote come hell or high water.
We both agreed Election Day was going to be a zoo.
The I said, "Who do you think is more willing to stand in line for 8 hours to vote: a McCain supporter or an Obama supporter?" He said if people hear about long lines who is more apt to even show up?
Looking great for Obama and I think enthusiasm is going to be the deciding factor.

The weekend, the New York Times magazine published an extensive article about John McCain's difficulty defining himself during this election season. The piece describes argument after argument, discussion after discussion, as McCain and his advisers struggled to come up with a clear "narrative" for the campaign. As a result, the campaign ended up creating a handful of conflicting versions of their candidate: the do-gooder war hero, the experienced politician, the steadfast leader, the GOP-defying maverick. Through it all, what emerges is a portrait of a guy who's tired of pretending and just wants it all to be over already.
The campaign put forth their various iterations of John McCain one at a time. But what if they all ended up in one place...like the Internet?

With President Bush "intentionally lying low this week," according to the New York Times, the Obama campaign wasted no time sending out a video of Vice President Dick Cheney's endorsement of Sen. John McCain for president.
DICK CHENEY: And in three days we'll choose a new steward for the presidency and begin a new chapter in our history. It's the biggest decision that we make together as Americans. A lot turns on the outcome. I believe the right leader for this moment in history is Senator John McCain. John is a man who understands the danger facing America. He's a man who has looked into the face of evil and not flinched. He's a man who's comfortable with responsibility and has been since he joined the armed forces at the age of 17. He's earned our support and confidence, and the time is now to make him commander-in-chief. I'm delighted to support John McCain and I'm pleased that he's chosen a running mate with executive talent, toughness and common sense, our next vice president in Sarah Palin."
Update: Obama responded by saying, "I'd like to congratulate Senator McCain on this endorsement because he really earned it."

Olbermann crashes "SNL" set
Olbermann crashes "SNL" set
Ben Affleck, who’s hosting “Saturday Night Live” this week, was rehearsing a skit this afternoon mocking Keith Olbermann when Olbermann himself got past security to watch, according to a source with knowledge of the incident.
A source described the skit as “savage,” in portraying Olbermann as a deranged person living at home with his mother. Affleck, said a source, became uneasy with Olbermann in attendance at the 3 p.m., closed-set rehearsal.
But Olbermann, through a spokesman, was complimentary of his first time being mocked on "SNL" — a position his MSNBC colleague Chris Matthews has been in over the years.
“I’m not Sarah Palin,” Olbermann said. “I know how valuable it is to me. And it’s funny."
John McCain is expected to be on tomorrow night, but there’s no word whether he’s involved at all in this skit.
An "SNL" representative declined to comment.

Boeher calls Obama chicken-shit! That's Ohio for you!
House GOP leader uses expletive to describe Obama
COLUMBUS, Ohio – House Republican leader John Boehner has used a vulgar expression to refer to Democrat Barack Obama and his voting record in the Illinois legislature.
While campaigning for Republican presidential candidate John McCain on Wednesday, Boehner told a small crowd at a bar in the college town of Oxford that failing to vote "yes" or "no" on an issue meant a lawmaker was a "chickens---."
The Ohio congressman said the last thing the country needs is to have a "chicken" in the White House.
Boehner spokesman Jessica Towhey confirmed the remarks on Saturday but said the congressman wasn't calling Obama the vulgar term. "The point that Boehner was making was that Barack Obama has consistently avoided making tough decisions and taking tough votes, and voters need to know that," she said.
The remarks, first reported in The Miami Student, the college newspaper published at Miami University, alluded to Obama's record of voting "present" 129 times as a state lawmaker. About 100 people attended the event, most of them Republican college students.

Uh-oh. The Canadian Press (the Canadian version of AP) reports:
MONTREAL — A Quebec comedy duo notorious for prank calls to celebrities and heads of state has reached Sarah Palin, convincing the Republican vice-presidential nominee she was speaking with French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
In the interview, which lasts about six minutes, Palin and the pranksters discuss politics, pundits, and the dangers of hunting with current vice-president Dick Cheney.
The Masked Avengers, who have a regular show on Montreal radio station CKOI, intend to air the full interview on the eve of the U.S. elections.
The well-known duo of Sebastien Trudel and Marc-Antoine Audette have also tricked Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger, Microsoft founder Bill Gates and French president Jacques Chirac.

Barack Obama campaign guru David Axelrod has another idea for musclebound California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who challenged the beanpole Illinois senator to do some squats and curls yesterday: shoot some hoops.
“I have to tell you, as someone who could use a little work, that Sen. Obama is pretty fit,” Axelrod told reporters in Henderson, Nev., this morning.
“Maybe when this is over, we can get Gov. Schwarzenegger on the basketball court and see what he can do,” Axelrod said, but insisted it wasn’t a challenge. “No, it’s just a suggestion.”

Archaeologists have unearthed evidence of the campsite of a marooned sailor who is said to have inspired the fictional castaway Robinson Crusoe.
The findings, carried in the journal Post-Medieval Archaeology, follow digs on a Pacific island west of Chile.
Daniel Defoe is believed to have based Crusoe on Alexander Selkirk, a Scotsman rescued from the island in 1709.
Postholes suggest the sailor built two shelters near a stream, with a look-out point to watch for approaching ships.
The island used to be known as Aguas Buenas, but has been renamed Robinson Crusoe Island after the character created by Defoe in his 18th Century classic.
The team also unearthed a pair of navigational dividers from the period, which they believe belonged to Selkirk.
The captain of the ship which found Selkirk referred to a number of mathematical instruments in his possession.
He also spoke of Selkirk shooting wild goats to help his survival on the Pacific island, although there were no relics of that activity.
David Caldwell, from National Museums Scotland, said: "The evidence uncovered at Aguas Buenas corroborates the stories of Alexander Selkirk's stay on the island and provides a fascinating insight into his existence there.
"We hope that Aguas Buenas, with careful management, may be a site enjoyed by the increasing number of tourists searching for the inspiration behind Defoe's masterpiece."

A group of American explorers has been given permission to dig for buried treasure on the Robinson Crusoe island, 600km off the coast of Chile.
It is thought the explorers may have located gold bars buried by pirates in the 18th Century.
As might be expected, there is a great deal of secrecy surrounding the reported find.
The exact location of the discovery has not been disclosed and the explorers, said to be on a scientific mission, have not been named.
Officially they have been given permission to dig anywhere on the Robinson Crusoe island for archaelogical and historical remains, which most take to mean buried treasure.
It has long been suspected that some sort of treasure is buried on the island, which lies 600km off the coast of Chile.
The island was used by British pirates in the 17th and 18th centuries.
But previous excavation efforts have come to nothing.
These explorers are reported to have spent over two years conducting their search, using maps and historical surveys. Digging is expected to begin soon.
The explorers will be allowed to keep a quarter of whatever they find - the rest will go to the Chilean state.
The news of the discovery has been greeted with concern by the 700 residents of the Robinson Crusoe island, who say they have not been consulted over the find.
They are now worried that the island's wildlife will be harmed by an influx of people wishing to dig for buried treasure.

VP pick Sarah Palin hoaxed by comedy prank call
1 hour ago
MONTREAL (AFP) — Republican vice presidential hopeful Sarah Palin on Saturday was the victim of a prank phone call by a French-Canadian comedian impersonating French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
After Palin realized the call was a hoax, her campaign staff admitted she was "mildly amused."
The prank tag-team from Quebec, "Justicia masques," who have previously targeted heads of state and celebrities, posted the conversation on their website (www.justiciers.tv).
In the recording, John McCain's running mate enthusiastically takes the fake Sarkozy's call.
"It's so good to hear you, thank you for calling us ... we have such great respect for you, John McCain and I, we love you!" Palin said.
She appeared unfazed by the fake president's thick French accent and some outrageous comments.
At one point the impersonator, comedian Sebastien Trudel, told the Alaskan governor he is following the US elections closely along with his special American advisor Johnny Hallyday -- a famous French rock'n'roll singer.
When the fake president told Palin his wife Carla Bruni is "hot in bed," the governor chuckled and complimented him for his "beautiful family."
Palin also proffered to continue relations if she reaches the White House.
"We should go hunting together," Palin said.
Palin laughed in response to Trudel's comment: "I just love killing those animals ... take away life, that is so fun!"

What a difference a couple weeks makes. Two weeks ago, one of John McCain's top spokespeople dismissed the voters in Northern Virginia as not from "real Virginia".
Today, McCain was begging those Northern Virginians to support him:
"Fairfax County is key to this election. You know that," McCain said. "You know how important it is for us to win here. You know how important it is that we put this country in the right direction. I need your help for the next three days."
Not real Virginian, but real voters. And, they're not voting for John McCain:
Obama has an almost 2 to 1 advantage over McCain in Northern Virginia, surpassing even the 60 percent mark that Gov. Timothy M. Kaine (D) and Sen. James Webb (D-Va.) racked up in the region during their successful campaigns in 2005 and 2006.
I just checked in with some friends who have been canvassing in Manassas, which is in Northern Virginia. There are so many Obama volunteers that they had to set up three additional staging areas. They just kept saying "It's amazing." And, more importantly, they're getting a very positive response from the voters.

No, Matt Drudge, the McCain Gap Isn't Closing
Calm down, writes Nate Silver at FiveThirtyEight.com. There's no need to panic over a couple of polls, trumpeted by Drudge, showing the race tightening. “Man, I thought I trained you guys better than this,” he notes. One, the Mason-Dixon poll, shows Obama up by only 4 in Pennsylvania. The other, a Fox News poll, has him leading by just 3 nationwide. Neither is persuasive evidence of real movement, Silver says.
Sometimes, writes Silver, a poll just comes up with an aberrant result. It doesn’t mean the pollster is biased, or even wrong. It’s just part of the nature of random sampling, especially for pollsters who don’t weight their sample by party. Nothing Silver’s seen adds up to evidence of a tightening race. He reiterates: for a game-changer, John McCain would need to be polling "within 2 points in 2 or more non-partisan polls in at least 2 out of the 3 following states: Colorado, Virginia, Pennsylvania."

Interesting anecdote and probably a testament to ground organization. I have no idea what this means. Friday night (which happens to be the start of our Sabbath) my wife answered the phone to hear a man stating he was from the McCain-Palin campaign. He asked who she was supporting. She replied that we will vote for Obama. He replied with "but he's a f-----g n---er!". Before I get to my wife's response I'll first have to say that I understand desperation and I also understand that this pitch may actually work for a few people. I also understand that there are people who are whack-jobs phone-banking for both sides. But here are some facts:
My wife and I are Black. Citing the fact that Obama is a f----g n---er as a way to sway our vote may not be a great idea. My wife and I live in Maryland... Baltimore, MD.... One of the most African American areas of Baltimore Maryland. How on earth did our phone numbers get on to a McCain volunteers phone bank list of potential voters to be calling at this stage in the game? We have never received a call from the Obama campaign.
Just weird. Not sure what to make of it... but that's not a good sign of organization. If it did anything it made us want to donate more. BTW, the rest of the call went downhill from there. My wife prayed for forgiveness after the call.

Poll: Obama Has Banked Big Lead In Early Vote
By Eric Kleefeld - November 1, 2008, 7:41PM
With early voting now coming to an end, a new CBS poll finds that Barack Obama has already banked a massive lead going into Election Day, which John McCain will have a tough job overcoming.
The numbers: Among the subset of early voters, Obama has built up a lead of 57%-38%. Among all likely voters, including both the early vote and those people who haven't gone yet, it's 54%-41%.
With the common estimate being that roughly one third of all ballots cast this year will be early votes, this means McCain would have to win the the remaining votes on Election Day by a margin of nearly ten points just to eke out a narrow win in the overall popular vote.
It's possible for McCain to do this -- and the internals show that the early voters are disproportionately self-identified Democrats -- but it's definitely a tough job.

Conyers on Obama Aunt Leak: "Very Disturbing"
By Zachary Roth - November 1, 2008, 12:54PM
Rep. John Conyers, the chair of the House Judiciary Committee, has responded to the Bush administration's leak of information on the immigration status of Obama's aunt.
In a hastily written letter, Conyers makes the same connection that we did with the administration's leaking of information on the FBI's nationwide investigation of ACORN. Both leaks went to the Associated Press, and appear to have been done for political purposes.
There's some other news in the letter in regard to that leak about ACORN. Conyers writes:
[I]n recent weeks law enforcement sources leaked information about an alleged investigation of a community services organization, a leak that the Department of Justice informs me is now under investigation by the Department's Office of the Inspector General and Professional Responsibility.
So, two internal DOJ offices are looking into the ACORN leak. That's certainly worth keeping an eye on.

McCain is feeling the heat in Arizona
Some polls suggest McCain's home state is up for grabs. Suddenly, both sides are picking up the campaign pace.
By Marjorie Miller
November 1, 2008
Reporting from Phoenix -- John McCain has easily won every political race he has run in Arizona, so it is not surprising that Republicans and Democrats alike assumed the senator would hold his own state in the presidential contest.
But that was before the economy tanked and foreclosure signs sprouted like saguaro in the desert. It was before the registration of Democrats and independents outpaced Republicans; before presidential polls showed a shrinking, single-digit advantage for McCain over Barack Obama, his Democratic rival.
Suddenly, both sides are throwing resources at Arizona. Voters began receiving automated phone calls this week from the Republican camp warning that Obama's election would invite a "major international crisis he will be unprepared to handle," and that Democrats in full control of government would "give civil rights to terrorists."
On Friday, the Obama campaign announced it would run an upbeat spot in the last four days of the race touting the Illinois senator's endorsements by former Secretary of State Colin Powell and economic giant Warren Buffett. Move On.org will run its own ads showing McCain struggling to hold on to his state.
Arizona's crimson has turned purple on several electoral maps, and some political analysts have moved it from the McCain column to "leaning McCain." Some polls suggest the state is up for grabs.

John who?
Seems like the v.p. candidate and the rest of the GOP dumped their presidential nominee today at a rally in Florida. Via CNN's Political Ticker:
At a boisterous Sarah Palin rally in Polk City, Florida on Saturday afternoon, one name was surprisingly absent from the campaign décor — John McCain’s.
Looking around the Fantasy of Flight aircraft hangar where the rally took place, there were all the usual reminders that it was a pro-McCain event. There were two large “Country First” banners hung on the walls along with four enormous American flags meant to conjure the campaign’s underlying patriotic theme. Many of the men and women in the audience wore McCain hats and t-shirts.
But on closer inspection, the GOP nominee’s name was literally nowhere to be found on any of the official campaign signage distributed to supporters at the event.
Members of the audience proudly waved “Country First” placards as Palin delivered her stump speech. Those signs were paid for by the Republican National Committee.
The other sign handed out to supporters read “Florida is Palin Country,” but those signs were neither paid for by the Republican National Committee nor the McCain campaign. In small print, the signs were stamped with the line “Paid for and authorized by Putnam for Congress" — as in, the re-election campaign of Florida congressman Adam Putnam, whose district skirts Polk City.
NOTE FROM JOHN: Signs not paid for by the RNC or the McCain campaign? Sarah Palin is freelancing. Man she's full of herself. And she's clearly decided to ditch McCain and build up her own bona fides for 2012. It's funny - we were afraid that Hillary would turn on Obama and try to throw the election so she could run again in 2012. In fact, Hillary has been great. It's Palin who's now thrown McCain overboard and running for her next election. Nasty.

Comic strip 'Doonesbury'
Comic strip 'Doonesbury' predicts Obama win
Newspapers split over whether to run the strip.
By Yvonne Villarreal
November 1, 2008
Garry Trudeau's "Doonesbury" is predicting a victory for Barack Obama, and newspaper editors around the country are debating whether to publish the comic no matter the results of the election.
Wednesday's strip is set in Iraq and features military characters huddled around a television that proclaims "And it's official -- Barack Obama has won. . . ."
In an e-mail to The Times, Trudeau said newspapers should run the strip because ". . . polling data gives McCain a 3.7% chance of victory. There's a greater risk that their presses will break down on election day. So I've been encouraging editors to choose hope over fear. And reminding them that if I'm wrong, it'll be my face that'll be covered with egg, not theirs."
Trudeau said he's not worried about the comic if his prediction is wrong. "I'd be a lot more worried about the country than the strip. One reporter has already suggested I just carry on with an alternative universe in which Obama wins. It's not a crazy idea . . . "
From the John McCain camp, spokesman Tucker Bounds said: "We hope the strip proves to be as predictive as it is consistently lame."
Editors first saw the comic on Wednesday. "I thought it was funny," said Michael Weinstein, features editor for the Charlotte Observer in North Carolina. "But it's an accuracy issue. We won't know the outcome of the election until Wednesday.
"It's just a matter of humor. Is the strip funny if McCain wins? Satire humor is a real difficult subject."
At the Chicago Tribune, "we are reserving the option of running the strip on Wednesday, but we of course would not typeset until we confirmed the result of the election," said Tim Bannon, one of the paper's feature editors.

What is Senator Harris doing?
Are any of you guys voting for someone other than Obama, such as McKinney? I'm undecided. Nader came through here, and he is so much smarter than the two on the republican ticket. He's 75 and recovered from bell's palsy in his eye, but he looked much healthier than McCain. He had been on a week long string of 3 speeches per day in different cities, and looked tired, and stumbled and said 'Osama', when he meant Obama... yet, he was able to tell a joke about it and could rattle off all sorts of policy relating to Taft Hartley and land-use that never come up in other debates conducted at 8th grade level.

Man found glued to steel
Man found glued to steel toilet
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/west_midlands/black_country/7...
A man had to be taken to hospital still attached to a steel toilet after super-glue was deliberately smeared on the seat.
Firefighters were unable to free the man and were forced to remove the entire toilet with the man attached.
The 35-year-old was in a public toilet cubicle in Brierley Hill in the West Midlands when he became stuck.
He was taken to hospital where doctors were forced to get into the ambulance before using chemicals to free him.
An ambulance service spokesman said: "He appeared to be none the worse for his ordeal other than being understandably somewhat embarrassed."
It is thought the glue had been smeared on the toilet seat by a prankster.
An ambulance crew and a rapid response vehicle attended the scene just before midday but they were unable to free the man.
"With the help of a local authority and the fire and rescue service, the man was removed from the cubicle still attached to the stainless steel toilet," the spokesman said.
The toilet was later taken back to the public convenience and re-installed.

Frank Rich excerpt "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner"
Once Obama wrested the nomination from Clinton by surpassing her in organization, cash and black votes, he was still often seen as too wimpy to take on the Republicans. This prognosis was codified by Karl Rove, whose punditry for The Wall Street Journal and Newsweek has been second only to Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert as a reliable source of laughs this year. Rove called Obama “lazy,” and over the summer he predicted that his fund-raising had peaked in February and that he’d have a “serious problem” winning over Hispanics. Well, Obama was lazy like a fox, and is leading John McCain among Hispanics by 2 to 1. Obama has also pulled ahead among white women despite the widespread predictions that he’d never bring furious Hillary supporters into the fold.
But certainly the single most revelatory moment of the campaign — about the political establishment, not Obama — arrived in June when he reversed his position on taking public financing. This was a huge flip-flop (if no bigger than McCain’s on the Bush tax cuts). But the reaction was priceless. Suddenly the political world discovered that far from being some exotic hothouse flower, Obama was a pol from Chicago. Up until then it rarely occurred to anyone that he had to be a ruthless competitor, not merely a sweet-talking orator, to reach the top of a political machine even rougher than the Clinton machine he had brought down. Whether that makes him more black or more white remains unresolved.
Early in the campaign, the black commentator Tavis Smiley took a lot of heat when he questioned all the rhetoric, much of it from white liberals, about Obama being “post-racial.” Smiley pointed out that there is “no such thing in America as race transcendence.” He is right of course. America can no sooner disown its racial legacy, starting with the original sin of slavery, than it can disown its flag; it’s built into our DNA. Obama acknowledged as much in his landmark speech on race in Philadelphia in March.
Yet much has changed for the better since the era of “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner,” thanks to the epic battles of the civil-rights movement that have made the Obama phenomenon possible. As Mark Harris reminds us in his recent book about late 1960s Hollywood, “Pictures at a Revolution,” it was not until the year of the movie’s release that the Warren Court handed down the Loving decision overturning laws that forbade interracial marriage in 16 states; in the film’s final cut there’s still an outdated line referring to the possibility that the young couple’s nuptials could be illegal (as Obama’s parents’ marriage would have been in, say, Virginia). In that same year of 1967, L.B.J.’s secretary of state, Dean Rusk, offered his resignation when his daughter, a Stanford student, announced her engagement to a black Georgetown grad working at NASA. (Johnson didn’t accept it.)

re: hypo
In an interview with The Blade, Mr. Nader was asked who he would pick between Mr. Obama and Mr. McCain.
"I don't pick between tuberculosis and cancer," he said. "I don't pick between two politicians whose record and proposals are turning their back on the American people and who don't have the political fortitude to even defend people's interests for a living wage, full medical health insurance, and cracking down on corporate crime. So they both flunk."
Mr. Nader, 74, drew the ire of Democrats in the 2000 presidential election when George W. Bush emerged as the victor over Al Gore after the GOP candidate won Florida under a cloud of controversy and by the thinnest of margins - 537 votes. Some Democrats contend that Mr. Nader - who tallied 97,488 votes in Florida - ushered in the Bush presidency by moving votes away from Mr. Gore.
"It's just scape-goating," Mr. Nader said. "They don't want to look at themselves in the mirror and say 'Why the heck didn't we win in a landslide against this bumbling governor from Texas with a horrible record who couldn't put three sentences together without a teleprompter."

Chomsky: In Swing States, Vote Obama -- Without Illusions at Real News Network
Critics of American political options argue that the two prevailing parties are two halves of the same whole. Chomsky explains that there lies some merit in this belief, as the Democrats and Republicans formulate the "larger business party". This reality is highlighted as both parties hold to-the-right stances of public opinion on a host of issues, such as healthcare. For said reasons, it is imperative that the voting public sets attainable expectations for an Obama administration, while recognizing that the elevated 'change' rhetoric will dissolve into standard Democratic policy.
IN the Chomsky interview he points out a quote from George Will that goes something like this: " This is an election about WHICH ELITES will govern."
Yep. Two sides of the same corporate coin.

By CHARMAINE NORONHA, Associated Press Writer
TORONTO – Sarah Palin unwittingly took a prank call Saturday from a Canadian comedian posing as French President Nicolas Sarkozy and telling her she would make a good president someday.
"Maybe in eight years," replies a laughing Palin.
The Republican vice presidential nominee discusses politics, the perils of hunting with Vice President Dick Cheney, and Sarkozy's "beautiful wife," in a recording of the six-minute call released Saturday and set to air Monday on a Quebec radio station.
Palin campaign spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt confirmed she had received the prank call.

Confronted with the quasi-deification (Guevarafication?) of Barack Obama, I'd like to present some change agents that lived by the mantra that others merely utter: Change comes from the bottom-up. Olympia Halloween Dance Party (Part Riot, Part Party)
Saturday, November 01 2008 @ 04:30 AM CDT
Contributed by: Anonymous
On Halloween night, a roving dance party took off from the artesian well. The artesian well sits under a black wall covered with Olympia' art. The artesian well is the source of all life in Olympia. The well belongs to the vast tribe of Olympia.
The party lasted exactly 55 minutes. A mix was played over several boomboxes. Almost immediately, the US bank had its windows busted out. Some people left the party after this, but most stayed. In less than ten minutes, the size of the roving party swelled.
With Justice playing over the speakers, people busted out the windows of a Starbucks. Again, some people left, but most stayed. After making another circle of downtown and seeing more US bank windows busted out (!), the crowd continued to grow as it passed the bars.
When it was clear that the slow moving police were attempting to trap everyone, the crowd suddenly surged backwards, overrunning the cruisers. At this point some people were pepper sprayed. No one was arrested. Everyone stayed safe.
The crowd was composed of people dressed as Knights, Unicorns, Witches, Dragons, Hippies, Demons, Aliens, Owls, assorted superheroes, Wizards, Satanic Fauns, unaffiliated party goers, Wolves, Angels and Sheep. Even the Devil was there. So was Athena. Even old trusty Jesus was there.
Thank you for the blessing Athena!
Love,
Some Olympia Shitheads

Judge orders White House to produce wiretap memos
Keep it coming,Keep it coming !
**
By JOAN LOWY, Associated Press Reporter
WASHINGTON – A judge has ordered the Justice Department to produce White House memos that provide the legal basis for the Bush administration's post-Sept. 11 warrantless wiretapping program.
U.S. District Judge Henry Kennedy Jr. signed an order Friday requiring the department to produce the memos by the White House legal counsel's office by Nov. 17. He said he will review the memos in private to determine if any information can be released publicly without violating attorney-client privilege or jeopardizing national security.
Kennedy issued his order in response to lawsuits by civil liberties groups in 2005 after news reports disclosed the wiretapping.
The department had argued that the memos were protected attorney-client communications and contain classified information.
But Kennedy said that the attorney-client argument was "too vague" and that he would have to look at the documents himself to determine if that argument is valid and also to see if there is information that can be released without endangering national security.
Justice Department spokesman Dean Boyd said Saturday the department is reviewing the opinion and will "respond appropriately in court."
Shortly after the Sept. 11 attacks, Bush authorized the National Security Agency to spy on calls between people in the U.S. and suspected terrorists abroad without obtaining court warrants.

Dhāraṇā Meditation
So I started visualising my red triangle, the first day it went skipping about wildly, but with my renewed associations I was able to re-establish it like a mantra, and I noticed it was very easy to silence the internal dialogue, not only that but I even popped into the Samadhi state rather easily (My near-daily practice of vipassana is obviously an important factor in that). The next day I made improvements as instead of looking to fix my triangle on where one of my walls would be, I located my triangle's two bottom corners at my eyes and the top one at my third eye, obviously! And I popped even more easily into Samadhi. So thanks again to Alan for the wonderful book and if you're not reading it yet, do it! 66 pages of pure excellence.

BLAST!
Blast 1
Introduction by Bradford Morrow
Facsimile edition edited by Wyndham Lewis
'' ... the Vortex of Lewis:
sun, energy, sombre emotion,
clean-drawing, disgust,
penetrating analysis ...'' Ezra Pound
In December 1913, Ezra Pound wrote to William Carlos Williams calling the London art/literary scene ''The Vortex.'' Pound thereafter refined the label to apply to the work of such ''English Cubist'' artists as Wyndham Lewis; Lewis in turn appropriated the term to christen his budding movement in the arts, ''Vorticism.'' Vorticism was baptized on June 20, 1914 in the first issue of BLAST, A Review of the Great English Vortex — Lewis's revolutionary magazine.
BLAST is now considered one of this century's examples of modernist expression and typography, both historically indispensable and a milestone in modern thought. To the artistic audience of its time, the first issue of BLAST came as a brutal shock (Lewis's plan was to create a ''battering ram''), a quality that has been preserved in this first facsimile edition. Described by Lewis as ''violent pink,'' but by some others as the ''puce monster,'' the large format magazine displaying radical typography and design, featuring a ''Vorticist Manifesto'' and eye-popping lists of items to be ''Blessed'' and ''Blasted.'' ''Blasted'' are, e.g., France, English Humor, Victorianism, aesthetes, the Anglican Church, popular writers and composers, do-gooders, sportsmen; ''Blessed'' are British Industry, trade unionists, aviators, music hall entertainers, hairdressers, ports, and members of the avant-garde. Wedged in amid the carefully wild layout of these Vorticist picture-poems are important essays by Lewis, original line cuts by such artists as Lewis, Wadsworth, Roberts, Jacob Epstein and Gaudier-Brzeska, and literary contributions from the likes of Pound (''Poems''), Lewis (''Enemy of the Stars''). Rebecca West (''Indissoluble Matrimony''), Ford Madox Ford (''The Saddest Story,'' later to become 'The Good Soldier', and originally published here under Ford's pre-war name, Ford Madox Hueffer).
This new edition of BLAST documents in its original format the raw energy, violent humor, graphic inventiveness and intellectual hard edge of the most compelling and vital magazine project of the modernist movement.

JPMorgan Chase the nation's largest bank and one of its biggest mortgage lenders, temporarily halted foreclosures Friday and offered to renegotiate a swathe of mortgages.
The global credit crisis, which began with subprime mortgages, increasingly appears to be affecting a wider range of consumer loans and, according to a report published by First American CoreLogic Friday, nearly one in five U.S. mortgage borrowers now owes more on the loan than their home is worth.

What is the deal SJ?
I've never even heard of classy witch. So many witches, its getting hard to generalize about them.
Who Knows What This Means And How It Will Shake Out?
I have received approximately thirteen robocalls from the RNC/McCain-Palin campaign. They are all ominous in tone, attacking Obama and raising the spectre of doom and gloom should he be elected to the presidency. I received one live-human call on behalf of the McCain-Palin campaign which had a more pro-McCain script than the robocalls.
I have also received approximately eight full color, single-fold campaign pamphlets via snail mail from the same organization. They echo the robocalls' talking points.
My brother was stunned to learn that I had received zero calls from the Obama campaign, although we spoke prior to last Friday when I received my only robocall from the Obama campaign.
The difference in tone between the one Obama robocall and the many McCain robocalls is remarkable (which is why I am remarking on it).
The Obama robocall was a cheery, young, bubbly, female voice inviting me to the Obama rally scheduled for the following day (Saturday) in Springfield, Missouri. It was upbeat and friendly, like a chat with Goldie Hawn...whereas the McCain calls could have been voiced by Boris Karloff (or an even more frightening voice...like Dick Cheney's).
After scanning various newspaper reports on the Obama rally in Springfield, the supporter attendance varies between thirty and forty thousand people.
By contrast, Sarah Palin's appearance less than two weeks ago in Rush Limbaugh territory (Cape Girardeau, Missouri) drew twenty-thousand supporters at most depending upon which news accounting I choose to cite.
Like McKegger needs to work..
..if he loses. Come to think of it his entire working life, practically, has been paid out of the U.S. Treasury, as will his retirement. Dudes and Dudettes, this McCain only knows suckling on society's socialist teat for survival.

Poll watchers and reps from the State Attorney General's office may be at the polls. We have to check thier credentials.
A seperate red flyer saying we should expect huge amounts of voters and to bring food and drink and medicines with us. We will get no breaks to leave the polling place.
I'll report after I get home from the poll how bad it was!
The MSM is saying the polls are tightening
what better way to whip the fans into a fury on the final stretch of the horserace. get them glued to their tv sets. watch all those ads that corporations are paying dearly for.
i'm seeing an explosion of support for mcbush and a lot of hatred for obama. our morning paper was full of warnings that infanticide is right around the corner if we elect obama. but then, this is southwest ohio, and the nuts are in charge of the asylum.

the Human Sharpe is on my teevee so I'm at a high risk of zoning out into a comatose state. I'm counting on this blog to keep me alert.
We will get no breaks to leave the polling place.
That is a red flag for me Toni...make sure you bring your cell phone charger....and your laptop if you have one.
We will get no breaks to leave the polling place.
And don't forget the forlorn astronaut toniD! Better safe than sorry.

don know boutchu
but when commercials in the 50's got repetitive and dishonest i'd wander off and do something else til the show came back on.
the main show is the electoral and the congressional votes.
Off to the rally...

The most important thing to keep in mind about pre-election polls is that they come with random variability built-in. That mostly predictable variation -- known to most of us as "the margin of error' -- comes from interviewing what we hope amounts to a random sample of likely voters rather than everyone that casts a ballot. So, if you look at a batch of new polls every day, the law of random chance guarantees that some polls will show your favorite candidate doing a little better and some will show that candidate doing a little worse. Moreover, one poll in twenty should produce, by chance alone, an odd result that falls outside of the reported margin of error (since that statistic is typically based on a 95% level of statistical confidence).
Given the number of new polls we are now seeing every day, it is all too easy to cherry pick one poll -- or easier still, one subgroup in one poll -- that seems to indicate a sudden, seemingly dramatic change and blow it up with a misleading scare headline.
The best advice I can offer right now, especially to journalists, is to emphasize what most of the surveys are telling us consistently and ignore the odd, contrary result, especially if hyped beyond all recognition by the pollsters themselves. More often than not, that odd "finding" turns out to be meaningless noise. The pollsters that shamelessly hype their results one day, take it back the next, while issuing warnings that important blocks of voters remain "volatile." Hardly. At this point, any such volatility tells us more about shortcomings in the polls than about volatility in the voters.
Taking a broad view of all the new data before us, it is hard to see much change of any significance in the race for president except a steady increase in the percentage that report having cast an early ballot, a steady dwindling in the percentage that are still undecided or persuadable and perhaps some uptick in McCain's support in a state or two (like Pennsylvania) where his campaign is expending resources disproportionately. None of our state classifications has changed in the last 24 hours.
On to the surveys we logged on Saturday. This weekend represents a relative lull before one final polling storm to come over the next 48 hours or so. Yesterday brought 17 new statewide surveys and 10 new national polls. Nine of the state level polls represent updates of tracking polls conducted by the same pollster within the last two weeks. Of these, 5 show nominal gains for McCain, 2 for Obama and two with no change in margin. On the other hand, 6 of the 10 new national releases show nominal shifts to Obama and three show no change in margin since their last non-overlapping sample -- none show any improvement for McCain.

on bill maher friday night
he made a comment that after the discussion of socialism started, that mcbush's standing in the polls of undecided voters shifted from a strong support for obama to a strong support for mcbush.
the question i have, is that in the ensuing time, how many of the undecided voters have become decided voters and is the group of retards that just can't make up their mind too small too worry about anymore?

when in reality they just dont give a fuck and arent going to vote. They just don't want to admit they aren't voting. We can call it the guity apathy effect.

The theft of this election.
This is going to have to be SOME caper. There isn't much doubt that the Big O is way ahead in the polls. This fact alone will make it much more difficult to pull off the theft. That being said....Rachel has already pointed out how calm and confident McCain has become. Rove has been cool and collected since the beginning.
These guys know that the fix is in and they're not worried at all. How will they get around the poll numbers...exit polls, etc?
When Wednesday morning arrives and we get the news that McCain has "won," how puzzled will we be that they actually pulled off the theft?
This will be a theft that will be marvelled at for decades to come.

I really need to thank you again for the Orange oil recommendation. That stuff is good at getting rid of ants, repels roaches, and cleans better than 409. The house always smells great too and it's cheap. You use such a small amount of the concentrate that even a small bottle lasts a long time.
When Wednesday morning arrives
you gotta wonder how 1,000,000 people in grant park are going to feel if they find out the republiscum have stolen an election for a third time. not to mention the election night parties in all the other urban areas of the country.
"the guity apathy effect."

poking holes...that reminds me....
Thursday I was out in Lynchurg doing an install. I had to run a cable through an outside wall for a 3g antenna. There was a big Gilmore for Senate sign beneath my ladder near the spot where I placed the antenna. The sign read "DRILL HERE DRILL NOW".
So, I took my 36 volt cordless hammer drill with the 1/2 inch masonary bit, and I did...several times.
It was very gratifying. :)
This is the poll the MSM has been quoting this morning...
Mason-Dixon: McCain Holding Three Key States
The last round of Mason-Dixon polling in key battleground states found Sen. John McCain holding several battleground states.
North Carolina: McCain 49%, Obama 46%
Missouri: McCain 47%, Obama 46%
Ohio: McCain 47%, Obama 45%
However, as we've noted earlier, the same polling round shows Obama leading in four other important states that went Republican four years ago: Colorado, Florida, Nevada and Virginia.

Mason-Dixon: Obama Ahead in Colorado
A new Mason-Dixon poll in Colorado shows Sen. Barack Obama leading Sen. John McCain, 49% to 44%.
The pollster notes "the number of undecideds in Colorado is smaller than in other battleground states. While those voters could have an impact, especially if they all throw their weight behind McCain, Obama has momentum."

I am predicting that OHIO will be where the theft occurs.
If they are going to be successful in pulling off the theft of this election, it will have to happen in the most backward and insecure state. That, of course, will be Ohio.
The Buckeye State is the most backward state in the north. When you land at Akron/Canton airport, your pilot will instruct you to set your watch back fifty years.
When you drive into Ohio from any direction, the roads take an instant turn for the worse. Ask any trucker. Ohio has the most potholed and ruptured roads and bridges than any other state and that includes West Virginia by a mile.
Ohio endured Republican rule for decades. The state has been run into the ground and is bankrupt both financially and morally.
Election fraud is as common in Ohio as backwards hats and muscle shirts in fine restaurants.
Look to Ohio to be the place where the operatives bring off the theft, I guarantee it.

Too True AP's write up on
Too True
AP's write up on McCain's SNL ...
McCain, who is trailing Democrat Barack Obama in most battleground state polls, also appeared during the show's "Weekend Update" newscast to announce he would pursue a new campaign strategy in the closing days of the campaign.
"I thought I might try a strategy called the reverse maverick. That's where I'd do whatever anybody tells me," McCain said.
And if that didn't work, "I'd go to the double maverick. I'd just go totally berserk and freak everybody out," the Arizona senator quipped.
Couldn't have said it better myself.

I don't know WHAT this is! I could be naive and say it is Chase anticipating an Obama victory and a new positive corporate direction for this country.
Or, I can say as one of the stronger banks in the nation, if not the strongest of the largest, it sees this as the only way out of this mess.
Either way, this is good for people and I am that much happier they are my bank.
BTW, Anyone looking for a good bank, I have nothing but praise for Chase. Their online banking is awesome and very customizable with alerts for just about everything via text, voice mail or email. They have always been friendly and professional and have worked with me on one ID Theft scare I had and some account glitches alway putting my interests before their own.

Toni, Eye don't know!
Was running with the dogs on a windy afternoon in the desert, if the golden, who's bigger than the poodle, is running in front of me he kicks up sand and what ever else he's running through. I think that's what happened. The eye Doc pulled out a piece of rusted metal, and then had to pick out pieces of rust from the cornea.
If I'm believing Barack Obama
that means my taxes shouldn't change.
it means there will be pay as you go.
it means we get out of Iraq.
it means the priority with Afghanistan changes also with more war.
It means he will "rebuild the military", probably with government programs.
It means to improve diplomacy and foreign relations.
It means my health care costs will go down.
It means we stop our dependence on foreign oil.
It means young people will find more opportunities than just the military.
it means no more Regents University inspired directors in the Justice Department.
it means America does not Torture!
