Moore Draws (misguided) Missiles, via Cuba

Methinks the wingtnuts are going to lose the battle when the question rolls around as to what exactly defines a journalist, but, hell, I say lettem do it. As the viagra of the last six years continues to wear off, the more they scream about liberal bias the more attention they'll draw to their factual impotence. How could THAT hurt? Let's see...

Drudge darling and bt: Brain Terminal conservative blogger Evan Coyne Maloney has long been lamenting the success of Michael Moore and liberal bias in documentary filmmaking (duh!), and now finally has his own film, awkward-title-and-all, called "Indoctrinate U." It's a rootsy li'l David and Goliath epic about how the conservative pea brain has to deal with the whitewashed yet somehow still alabaster halls of higher learning and the exhausting emotional baggage caused by empirical wisdom.

Meanwhile, Coyne's unlikely mentor Michael Moore faces a Federal investigation and a barrage of conservative missiles for having gone to Cuba to shoot scenes for his upcoming documentary film "Sicko."

"The recent Treasury Department inquiry asked Moore for proof that he works for a "news-gathering organization" and for information about who went with him....Several right-wing commentators, including Glenn Beck and John Gibson, have argued that Michael Moore should not be considered a journalist.

While reviled by the right, Michael Moore should be seen as a heroic investigative journalist in the tradition of Upton Sinclair, Lincoln Steffens and Ida Tarbell, exposing corruption and hypocrisy in society, corporations and the government, and championing the causes of working-class people.

...

It's true that Moore isn't "objective." Obviously, he goes into his projects with a point of view. But his work is the video equivalent of the work of columnists and op-ed writers, who also gather facts and then interpret them, making persuasive and opinionated arguments based on those facts.

IF MOORE ISN'T a journalist, then neither is George Will, Leonard Pitts, Charles Krauthammer or Ellen Goodman.

Fox News is a propaganda wing of the Bush administration and the GOP, yet they consider themselves journalists."

Let the white-hot spotlight of a Treasury Department fact-finding mission and conservative amplified outrage begin! SURELY it will expose Michael Moore as the stealthy anti-patriot that few Americans are aware is lurking among them. SURELY it will reinforce the overwhelmingly popular and still relevant U. S. embargoes on Cuba. SURELY no one will want to go see Moore's commie socialist propagandistic film after learning he traveled to Cuba to film and cavort with Castro on Soros' dime (see chart....What! No chart! Get the chart!). And, S-U-R-E-L-Y this will result in box-office nightmares and continued financial ruin for Moore as it did following the horrendously received "Fahrenheit/911!"

Yes, in the aftermath a new species will emerge and rise to dominance: the conservative documentary filmmaker, like Evan (who?).

The yawn dawn of conservative documentary filmmaking is imminent...

I first saw the "sicko actors" comment in a headline blurb on my comcast account. I hope it breaks box office records.
